Digital makeovers, Real or fake? Just how far do people go with digital makeovers for commercial magazines and advertising ads. Now a days advertising photos are always heavily modified with photoshop. In this article we are going to show you a simple example of a digital makeover with photoshop. First you need your facial image which you are going to alter. You can make edits to this image in more or less any order, although it’s often best to leave the persons skin softening to last, it just makes thing easier. Start by taking a look at the persons face and address what can be changed and what can be improved, check for blemishes, and other facial marks. Most facial images show people have bags under there eyes so this is always a good place to start from. Select the clone stamp tool, and make sure you leave the mode as normal, choose a brush, good tip always make sure it’s smaller than the target area, and (Alt) / (Option) click to sample a source area. You’ll notice when you are using the clone stamp on a facial image you never want to alter the geometry of the person’s face, so always make sure you don’t change the underlying tone and shading area of the persons face, you just need to alter the surface details. So after you have tidy up the blemishes and bags from under there eyes, you can have a go at altering the hair with the cloning tool, if it needs touching up. Cloning hair can be a very long process because of the individual strands you might have to alter. Sometimes just altering the person’s hair can have a big difference to your overall picture. Two more things you can work on are altering there eyes by whitening them and removing the veins, and also making there teeth whiter. For the finishing touch you can soften the skin a little by duplicating the image and using the Gaussian blur, but only apply this to the selected areas instead of the whole face. The key to altering any facial image is to enhance what’s in the photo, and not to create that perfect “airbrush look”. |
